The system monitors a specific distance or depth through longitudinal scanning. This is especially useful in cases where rotary scanning is not appropriate or possible. Some examples are cavities, blind or through holes, and places where space is limited. It can also be used to verify that a part is in place during assembly, or to verify that the right part is on the machine by detecting specific characteristics.

The BK Mikro system works:

Once the position is set using Teach/Learn or by rotating the switch, the system is ready to run. Simply apply a 24vdc signal to the Start terminal to start the scan cycle (this can be done by CNC, PLC or relay). The probe will move to the teaching position and verify the presence of the tool or object. If all is well, the device will output an "OK" signal to allow the machine cycle to continue. If the tool is damaged, the probe will move beyond the storage position and the controller will output a "KO" signal to let the machine know there is a problem and shut down automatically. The tolerance of the inspection can be adjusted by DIP switch or rotating dial. The unit can store up to 8 different locations in memory; They are selected using a binary combination of inputs S1-S3.
