What is the working principle of floating ball valve? Bee floating ball valve features

2023-09-23 09:49:25

BeeFloating ball valveOperated by a stem or shaft attached to the top of the ball. This rotates it 90 degrees, often referred to as a quarter turn. When the ball rotates, the port is covered or exposed by the valve body wall, releasing or limiting flow.

The stem is connected loosely enough that when the ball rotates, the pressure of the fluid pushes it towards the downstream seat, creating a tight seal. After some degree of seat wear, floating ball valves may not seal effectively in low-pressure applications because there may not be enough pressure to force the ball to produce a tight enough seal.

In most applications, however, the downstream pressure is sufficient to maintain a tight enough seal after the seat begins to wear.

Floating ball valve and fixed ball valve

Trunnion ball valves are also used in industrial piping systems, which work in a similar way to floating ball valves, but differ in the way the balls are used.

In trunnion ball valves, the ball does not float and connect to the trunnion. This will maintain proper seals on both sides and will not increase the torque of the stem.

For higher pressure applications, trunnion ball valves are preferred because they provide better sealing.

Key components of floating ball valve

Floating ball valves have many important components that help it operate so efficiently, they are:

Body - The chamber containing the valve mechanism. Ball valves are usually made of iron, steel, brass, bronze or PVC.

Ball - A sphere that rotates around a flow path. It is connected to the valve body via a stem (or shaft).

Hole or port - allows the center of the ball to flow to be hollowed out.

Packing - Flexible seals installed around the stem to prevent media from escaping from the body.

Valve seat - A disc that forms a seal between the valve body and the sphere.

Stem - the shaft that holds the ball in place and connects it to the actuator or operating rod

Actuator - External device for rotating the valve stem. This can be a lever, gear, electric actuator, or pneumatic/hydraulic actuator.

The ball of a floating ball valve is suspended in its adjusted medium and held in place by a seat usually made of thermoplastic. The seat then forms a tight seal between the ball and the body.

Floating ball valves can provide a two-way seal, which means the ball can move enough to stop the flow in either direction. Economical and lightweight, this type of valve can be found in applications including oil, water, gas and steam.

Bee floating ball valve features

Floating ball valves are used when it is necessary to ensure perfect sealing of liquids, gases, semi-solids and viscous substances, acids and corrosive substances. Floating ball valve options with Fluid Controls provide low operating torque and quick opening and closing operation through the use of a quarter turn mechanism.

The most important features of our high quality floating ball valves are:

• Leakproof stem with V-shaped seat

• Cavity Pressure Relief mechanism

• Anti-burst and self-compensating stem

• Fire resistant design, secondary metal-to-metal seat

• Antistatic properties to prevent electrostatic discharge

• Locking device prevents accidental valve operation

What is the working principle of the floating ball valve introduced above? Bee floating ball valve features problems. In addition, Shenzhen Oudejie Technology specializes in selling new imported Bee ball valves, and promises to sell products are new imported products, while providing our customers with quotation, selection, product information and other services.
